Each of us is unique and has a unique set of talents, skills and desires that determine what we are passionate about.
With this uniqueness we are divinely designed to provide some unique service to the world that noone else can offer in our particular way.
Most people can’t decide what they are passionate about because they are trying to pinpoint it to one thing. The truth is that you probably have many interests and having to pick just one is overwhelming.
You can narrow down your niche by seeing yourself as sort of a melting pot of talents. When you combine all your passions they boil down to one specific service that is unique, and you will feel fulfilled because you can express them all.
I will use myself as an example. Taking stock of my passions I know that I have an innate drive to express music with movement. I have strong beliefs regarding the power of the mind. Feeling healthy and fit are important to me because I like to feel young and energetic.
I have a strong drive to be creative and use my own ideas. I thrive on working for myself as I don’t like people telling me what to do and I enjoy making my own schedule. I want to be able to do what I want when I want as much as I can.
I have an affinity for sales and marketing and love to see results. I am ambitious to learn new things that will help me achieve.
I like problem-solving and philosophical thought. I am a good listener, very intuitive and a natural coach. And I love to be the center of attention!
My jobs as a dance/fitness/yoga instructor and inspirational writer fulfills all these needs. My job keeps me fit and I only instruct at places as an independent contractor.
I get to create classes, choreograph and implement any ideas I come up with. The rest of the time I work from home. I can take a day off whenever I want to. I have time to read, research and study and become knowledgeable on the subjects I love.
I get to write and inspire people as much as I make time to do so. As an internet marketer I experience the rewards of accomplishment from my efforts in learning ways to sell and market on the web.
And when I teach I get to be an entertainer!
I’ve managed to combine all my passions into a livelihood that I enjoy and that is lucrative.
Here are some steps you can take to find your passions and then narrow it down to the job/s you were meant to do:
- Make a list of everything you like to do and are good at. Let go of judgment and just list whatever comes to mind. Remember if you have the desire there is probably a need for it in the world.
- Pretend you are putting all these into one big pot and then stir it up. What is the result? It may be more than one job but they both have the same general service, for example, “inspiring people to be healthy”.
- Let go of the doubts and fear. For example, many people feel driven to work for themselves but are afraid of not having a steady salary or benefits. You will have to weigh out the pros and cons and see which things are most important to you.
- Take a leap of faith. If you can get this far there will be a point where you just have to believe in yourself and do it. You will be entering new territory. This is called GROWTH.
- Go for it!
